Fibers from recycled tires can be strong steel fibers or textile fibers (such as nylon or polyester), which can be used for a variety of purposes. Steel fibers are often used as concrete reinforcement, while textile fibers can be used in carpet products, fiberglass components, or composite reinforcement materials.

Main Stages of Tire Fiber Recycling

Collection and Preparation

Used tires are collected, then the sidewalls are cut, and the wheel rims are separated.

Primary Destruction

Tires that no longer have rims are cut into 5-40 cm fragments called “flakes”.

Secondary Destruction

The tire debris is then crushed into even smaller pieces using a shredder to separate the rubber, steel and fiber components.

Magnetic Separation

Magnetic separation is used to separate the steel wire from the mixture.

Fiber separation

Textile fibers are separated from rubber particles using a series of filter and sieve systems.

Cleaning

The separated textile fibers are cleaned to remove dirt and rubber residue so they can be reused.
